What is Power Apps?

Power Apps is a low-code platform by Microsoft that allows anyone to build professional business applications without writing traditional code.

It is part of the Microsoft Power Platform which includes:

  • 🟢 Power Pages - Build websites
  • 🤖 Copilot Studio - Build AI chatbots

Prerequisites

Before we start, you need:

Step 1: Open Power Apps

  1. Go to https://make.powerapps.com
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account
  3. You’ll see the Power Apps home screen

Step 2: Create Your First App

  1. Click + Create in the left menu
  2. Select Canvas app from blank
  3. Give it a name: “My First App”
  4. Choose Tablet or Phone layout
  5. Click Create

Step 3: Add Your First Screen Elements

  1. Click + Insert in the top menu
  2. Add a Text Label
  3. Change the text to “Hello, Power Apps!”
  4. Add a Button
  5. Set the button’s OnSelect property to:

Notify(“Welcome to Power Apps!”, NotificationType.Success)

Step 4: Preview Your App

  1. Click the Play button (▶️) in the top right
  2. Click your button
  3. You should see a success notification!
